Rourkela (Orissa): Maoists blew away a portion of railway tracks in the wee hours causing disruption of train services . Maoists had called a 72-hour bandh starting from yesterday in Bihar,Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh to protest
against a proposed all-out offensive "Operation Green Hunt"
against them by the Centre. Rail and road traffic in Jharkhand was badly hit on Sunday More than 80 per cent of railway stations in Jharkhand fall in Maoist-infested areas.Trains have been cancelled or diverted from the maoists affected areas.
Ttrain services on the Howrah-Mumbai route was disrupted .
A portion of the railway track between
Bhalulata and Jareikela, was blown up
by suspected Maoists at 1 am leading to derailment of two
wagons of a goods train, Rourkela railway station manager S
K Panda told .
No reports of injury or casualty
in the incident was reported.
Road services were also badly affected -
Jharkhand police chief Neyaz Ahmad told that 70 to 75 percent of the preparations for the offensive against Maoists were over.
